Absolutely correct on both counts. I have worn them to bed and they definitely do make a difference after a hard training session. It is difficult to precisely describe what they do when you are going hard in the gym or on the road. The best way to say it is that you have less burn and fatigue. One suggestion - without sizing in inches: I have 18.5 inch calves and to me compression works best with adequate pressure. I am using the "large" sizing and they are a good fit. I would imagine that you should go a size lower than what you think you need to make sure you get the full benefits of compression. It saved me! I have horrible shin splints in my left shin and this sleeve has helped alleviate the pain as well as preventing (in my opinion) more damage.
