This is a good set for playing with friends and going on dates because the balls aren't too heavy and it's fun. I've played twice and had a blast, but the balls are looking pretty scratched up after only two games on grass. We have been enjoying playing bocce in our yard and our 4-year-old has really taken to the game (although he throws the balls more like shot put because of their size and weight). We have not had any issues with the balls chipping or otherwise not holding up to our use.
