It took several tries to get the right parts assembly. One unit was incorrectly provided with one too many long bolts and one too few short bolts and one too few cinch nuts. I cut off the bolt and got a cinch nut at Lowes. The quality is better than expected. I think I will have to modify the units to fit on my Dodge Caravan cross bars. It also does not fit on a Toyota RAV4. These cars have oval shaped tapered cross bars and I am going to make a pad to absorb some of the space on the edges. These J Racks work well with my Yakima round bars. I carry two 60lb kayaks on top of my Jeep Wrangler. The bolts that come with these racks are softer than grade 2 and I recommend they be replaced. I also replaced the cam straps with ratchet straps to ensure the kayaks were secure. I don't use cam straps for anything. It was inexpensive to replace the bolts and straps so I still thought this was a good buy and the shipping was fast. |
